IGNATIUS: This chapel is dedicated to St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuit Order. To the left of this chapel is the headstone for James Murphy, son of the pioneer family that founded the City of Sunnyvale and one of the first students to attend Santa Clara College.
This excerpt described the construction of the student chapel in the 1880s. It states that the chapel was constructed just north of the Mission Cemetery.
